who we are
HATTheatre was founded in 1993 as a 501 (c) (3) non profit
production company offering professional shows to our audiences and providing educational outreach to all ages.
our mission
Our mission is to offer high quality, professional theatre that is affordable and accessible to all.
We produce shows that are new to RVA audiences, helping to broaden the scope beyond
titles that are well known. We embrace not only those shows that have played on Broadway,
Off-Broadway, and regionally, but also promote new and emerging artists whose voices
have yet to be heard. We look beyond the U.S to other countries as well, and have produced
several United States premieres and world premieres.
Also a part of our mission is to serve the community through outreach.
Our education series is at the heart of what we offer as we fuse performance
and life skills together for ages 5 to 95.

what we do
- We bring eclectic shows, with broad-based appeal, to Richmond audiences and are dedicated to offering fair and reasonable ticket prices to all who enjoy live, professional theatre. We work with some of the most talented and dedicated artists, helping to provide a safe place to create and share their work.
- For our youth & adult classes, our tuition costs are some of the lowest in the area. We believe that these classes bring a positive force to the community, so any interested child or adult should have access to them. We also go out into the community and offer classes on-site at both public and private schools.
- We are home to two resident companies; one is a profit share company, the other produces 2 shows a year in our family series and features youth actors ages 9 to 19, giving them the opportunity to work on professional shows similar to our mainstage adult oriented productions.
